North Georgia Community YMCA Afterschool Programs

We are a proud provider of Afterschool programming, serving nine locations across Catoosa and Walker counties in partnership with each school district. At each YMCA program location, students follow a curriculum developed by the YMCA and Georgia Department of Education standards to include daily academic enrichment and recreational activities. We are also Quality-Rated and our programs are led by qualified directors age 21 and older, as well as counselors age 18 and older. Staff are trained according to guidelines set by the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Georgia Bright from the Start and the YMCA to prioritize a secure and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow and build positive relationships.

21st Century Community Learning Centers (Grant-Funded)

Kindergarten - Eighth Grade

In 2024, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga was awarded federal grant funding through the Georgia Department of Education to support core academics, enrichment activities and family engagement initiatives at 7 area schools. The Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC Program will serve a limited number of families at each school on a first-come, first-serve basis as long as funds remain available. Families may continue to participate in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program year-to-year as long as they are in good standing with the SOARING - Catoosa and Walker County Program Goals and Objectives and the North Georgia Community YMCA. The 21st CCLC program currently serves the following schools:

  • Cherokee Ridge Elementary
  • Lakeview Middle School
  • Rock Spring Elementary
  • Rossville Elementary
  • Saddle Ridge Elementary & Middle School
  • Tiger Creek Elementary
  • West Side Elementary

The 21st CCLC program runs Monday – Friday from the dismissal of school until 6:00 p.m. at the elementary schools and 6:30 p.m. at Lakeview Middle School.

YMCA Afterschool Program (Fee-Based)

Pre-K - Eighth Grade

The YMCA Afterschool Program has served thousands of North Georgia families for over 25 years. Our goal for the 2025-26 school year is make this program available to additional families in parallel to the grant-funded program at each elementary school, where resources allow. The decision will be made based on community need, program registrations and ongoing participation. The program runs Monday – Friday from the dismissal of school until 6:00 p.m. Fees are $48 per week for YMCA Members and $68 per week for Non-Members with a $50 annual registration fee per family. YMCA Income based program pricing is available for families who qualify and we accept payments from the Georgia Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program.
